Z’EV crowdfunding Cine-cussion Cymatics project

Legendary composer and percussionist Z’EV has a Kickstarter project winding down that could use your help.  It is intended to develop a refined version of his cine-cussion system, which links visual art with physical performance (further explanation is available at the Kickstarter page).  Donations even at the lowest tier are rewarded with an individualized five minute piece for the donator using the completed system.  Any and all help is appreciated!

Californian sound artist Z’EV has four days left to reach his target of $5,000 to develop a refined version of his Cine-cussion project, which is based on experiments with visible sound waves and vibration patterns (Cymatics).

Z’EV started work on Cine-cussion in 2009, and developed a four inch speaker, with a thin plastic membrane covered in water. The Kickstarter funding will pay for further development of the hardware so that it’s practically possible to take it on tour, plus the money to buy a five pad trigger to MIDI set, and to pay for the writing of an audio sampling program, a laptop and projector.

Rewards run from one-off recordings of Cine-cussion, to a bundle which includes a first edition of Z’EV’s Rhythmajik (a book on the rhythmic and magical uses of sound). Watch a Cine-cussion video while following the link below.

17.04.2012 MANOREXIA + arthuur en enno CANCELLED!

i am very sorry to inform all that the MANOREXIA concert we were hoping to
host on april 17th at Stadtgarten in Cologne is cancelled. we are very
disappointed and frustrated about this as a lot of work already went into
the preparation of this special event and we were very much looking forward
to seeing and hearing JG Thirlwell’s orchestral project here. the
cancellation is beyond our control, the european booking agency First
Contact has decided to cancel the greater part of the european tour. here is
an excerpt from their communique:
“(…) we must cancel all but the first three shows of dates on the
Manorexia tour. This is due to logistical and financial reasons. It has
unfortunately come to a point where the tour has become financially
impossible to continue with the full dates.”
for us here at aufabwegen this is frustrating and not really understandable
but there is not much we can do about it.
sorry for any inconvenience this might have caused. tickets bought via
presales can be returned through the respective outlets.

next release is the full length cd “temporary audiosculptures and artefacts” by a project called KONRAD KRAFT.
KONRAD KRAFT is the alias of artist detlef funder who produces music under different names in various genres and styles.
KONRAD KRAFT is kybernetic ambient with a strange 1990ies post-ethno-melancholy, if that makes sense. KONRAD KRAFT had some appearances in the context of the great Stimme des Volkes (SDV) label from Duesseldorf and also appeared on the Timebase Compilation Twillight Earth that was truly genre-defining. the cd is packaged in a special carton box and limited to 300 copies. it costs 13 euros and is available now for preorder.

Both posters are produced as silkscreen prints in white ink on black carton paper and each is printed in a limited edition of 100 numbered copies, signed by David Tibet, of which only 93 will be available for sale at the C93 concert in Cologne, 29th March 2011. Peter Christopherson created a body of work that was hugely influential and inspirational to aufabwegen. Not so much his work as part of TG but his group COIL, which was one of the most moving and exciting musical projects ever. I had the pleasure of meeting Sleazy a couple of times and one of the most remarkable events was being invited to COIL’s house in London in late 1994 and doing an interview with Geff and Sleazy for my magazine aufabwegen. Sleazy would be leaning with his back against the wall and mostly be smiling and listening to what Geff was saying about COIL. From time to time he would make a funny remark or clearing up something that needed a factual input. After that we met a few times around COIL concerts or when I had the pleasure to interview TG for their reunion. In 2009 I was fortunate enough to host a concert by Sleazy’s project SOISONG in Cologne – he was funny, in good mood and seemed very happy about his new life in Bangkok. He was talking about his new love for ZEN things and how he was going to take up meditation seriously and generally he seenmed full of plans and energy.

It is hard to believe that he passed away so suddenly and out of the blue. Our thoughts are with the people near to him and his family. We are thankful for having met such a wonderful and inspiring artist and thanks Sleaze for all he has given us. May he dwell the fields beyond our horizons with his typical smile upon his face.
