Nocturnal Emissions (UK)<\/strong> Studio 672\/Stadtgarten Die zehnte Folge der Konzertreihe \u201ebroken sound\u201c bietet einen abwechslungsreichen Abend. Das Projekt Nocturnal Emissions um Nigel Ayers z\u00e4hlten seit der Gr\u00fcndung Ende der 1970er Jahre zu den Protagonisten der Industrial-Bewegung. In den letzten Jahren hat Ayers in typisch britischer Outsider-Manier obskure Heimatstudien betrieben und Nocturnal Emissions mehr zu einem Installationsprojekt gewandelt. Das heutige Konzert in K\u00f6ln ist das erste Konzert in Deutschland seit 2002. Man darf auf das Sound-Update gespannt sein! Das Trio Mohammad aus Athen bringt Sound an den Rand von Aufl\u00f6sungserscheinungen. Cello und Kontrabass werden durch Oszillatoren und Filter geschickt, um einen bedrohlich-dunklen Klang entstehen zu lassen. Heavier than heavy. Konrad Kraft er\u00f6ffnet den Abend mit der Vorstellung seiner „audiosculptures“, kybernetische elektronische Tracks. \u201ebroken sound\u201c wird kuratiert von Till Kniola\/aufabwegen und gef\u00f6rdert durch das Kulturamt der Stadt K\u00f6ln und das Ministerium f\u00fcr Familie, Kinder, Jugend, Kultur und Sport des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen.<\/p>\n NOCTURNAL EMISSIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n The Nocturnal Emissions project, masterminded by Nigel Ayers, has been on the cutting edge of new music since the 1970s. <\/p>\n MOHAMMAD<\/strong><\/p>\n MOHAMMAD are Nikos Veliotis , ILIOS and Coti. nikos veliotis <\/p>\n KONRAD KRAFT<\/strong><\/p>\n Detlef Funder, in D\u00fcsseldorf 1959 geboren, ist Komponist, Klangforscher, Sound Designer und bildender K\u00fcnstler. Musikalisch bet\u00e4tigt er sich haupts\u00e4chlich im Bereich der elektronischen Musik und sucht dort nach Kl\u00e4ngen, die es bisher noch nicht gegeben hat, oder geh\u00f6rt wurden. Im Jahre 1979 erwarb er seinen ersten semi-modularen Synthesizer, mit dem er \u00fcber Jahre die Elektronen auf Ihrem Weg zum Sound steuerte. Nachdem er Anfang der 80er Jahre das Musikprojekt Konrad Kraft ins Leben rief und eigene Tapes Ver\u00f6ffentlichte, war er als Gr\u00fcndungsmitglied des D\u00fcsseldorfer Labels SDV-Tontr\u00e4ger dort f\u00fcr A&R, Produktion und Mastering verantwortlich. Mit eigenen Produktionen im Bereich des Industrial \/ experimental Elektronik, entfernte er sich aber damals schon weg vom akustischen Mainstream. In dieser Zeit legte er auch den Grundstein f\u00fcr sein sp\u00e4teres Bet\u00e4tigungsfeld als DJ und Technoproduzent. Mit diversen Ver\u00f6ffentlichungen und Auftritten blieb er seiner Vorliebe f\u00fcr elektronische Klangerzeugung treu und war 1999 Gr\u00fcndungsmitglied der 4CN-Studios in Bochum. Nach seinem Ausscheiden aus den 4CN-Studios 2007 konnte er sich endlich wieder seinen Soundt\u00fcfteleien widmen und sein bis dato etwas vernachl\u00e4ssigtes Projekt Konrad Kraft reaktivieren. \nNigel Ayers has been described as a Guerrilla Sign Ontologist, cutting-up and pasting the contents of the human psyche. With a background in avant-garde art, his work has grown from audio visual installations through underground video works which changed the shape of British television.
\nIn the early eighties Nocturnal Emissions hit London with a barrage of seminal funk; pioneering the use of sound samplers, multi-cultural collage and electronic noise. They became a shape shifting chameleon lightening the darkness of post-industrial music, combining extremist performance art and video displays with apocalyptic beat music. Nocturnal Emissions have since been credited as a catalyst for a generation or two of sound workers.
\nHowever, at the height of their success, the Emissions decided to shun the crass commercialism that had developed around them, and to develop their work as a secret alchemy. Nigel Ayers has continued to work with a strong underground of cult support, avoiding music industry fashions, and following his own creative path he concentrated on creating a strong sense of a wilderness identity through sound.

\nHaving worked separately in the experimental field they decided to join forces. Mohammad’s sound brings together low frequencies inter-modulations, dark textures, and distant folk nuances. They use cello (Nikos Veliotis), oscillators (ILIOS) and contra-bass (Coti).

\nAfter a brief involvement in the Athens pop \/ electronic scene during the late 80s veliotis later devoted himself to the experimental field (audio, working primarily with cello & video). Since the late 90s veliotis has pushed the boundaries of sound and image using unorthodox cello techniques, floating long sustained sounds or silences and multilateral abstract visuals, overlays of digital trash and other digital found material. He has extensively performed in international festivals (Asia, Europe & North America).

\nILIOS
\nActive since the early 90’s in sound art and image, ILIOS has been exploring the extremes of sound and image derived phenomena. Through constant change in his sound palette touching and surpassing the limits of the sound spectrum, flirting with the opposites from ultra-orthodox silence to ultra-catholic noise ILIOS advocates for an anti-career. Some of ILIOS recorded output has been regarded by the media as: „The sound of death“ or „The most enervating record imaginable“. By 2009 ILIOS has performed more than 200 times in various venues and festivals in Asia, Europe, Oceania, South and North America, pushing the space and body resistances to a hard test pursuing a state of alert for the human senses.

\nCostantino Luca Rolando Kiriakos, born in Milan, Italy in 1966, better known simply as Coti K., has been involved in various Athens pioneering electronic bands since th mid 80s. He has released various solo records, written music for film, theatre, dance theatre and TV. Working as a musician, composer, installation artist, record producer, sound engineer and sound designer he has collaborated with many artists including Tuxedomoon, Blaine Reininger, Dimitris Papaioannou, Stereo Nova, Dimitris Charitos, Raining Pleasure, Nikos Veliotis, Mikael Delta, ILIOS and others.

\nSeit dem arbeitet Detlef Funder daran, seine Klangforschung in Beziehung mit der bildenen Kunst zu setzten.
\nMit seiner nun erscheinenden CD auf dem K\u00f6lner Label aufabwegen, begibt er sich in das Feld der elektronischen Bildhauerei und kreiert Ambient orientierte tempor\u00e4re Audio-Skulpturen, die nur im Kopf des Zuh\u00f6rers entstehen (k\u00f6nnen).
